Angelone

A beautiful site just outside Barzio

Angelone is a great climbing site with more than 60 routes scattered along a number of different walls. You will mainly find routes from 5.7 to 5.10d, but also some in the 5.11's. The routes are normally well bolted, but sometimes a bit long distance between the bolts. The climbing site faces south, and is very popular when the weather is nice, so be early.

It is not too difficult to reach Angelone from Milano. You could go by train from either Centrale or Porta Garibaldi to Lecco. From Lecco you go by bus to Barzio and then on foot up to the site. If you use a direct train Centrale - Lecco (i.e. 9:15, 12:15 or 14:15) there is bus connections to Barzio (10:05, 13:00 or 15:05).

Once in Barzio, follow the signs to the cable cart (funivia). When you arrive there, pass the bar and turn right on a small footpath. Here you will find signs to the different parts of the climbing site. It takes about 30 min. to walk up from Barzio, but somewhat faster the other way.

The buss connection back to Lecco is limited. On working days (incl. Saturdays) the last bus leaves at 16:52, on Sundays and holidays a few hours later.
