Pizzo Boga

There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing...

Pizzo Boga

If you are looking for a good site as an introduction to longer climbing routes, Pizzo Boga is an excellent alternative. The main route is "R2 Monza" (5.10d or 5.9/A0). This route covers six different ledges, and has a total length of about 200 meters. Each of the ledges has several different variants and alternative routes.

The wall faces southeast, and will usually be bathing in sun most of the day. On our first day at this site, we had clouds and a light drizzling. Later we got rain and the rock got quite slippery.

Pizzo Boga is located not far from Lecco. Drive from Lecco towards Valsassina. After a few kilometers, you will arrive in Laorca. Take off up to the right, and park close to the gate after about 200 meters. It will take you about 20 min. to walk from the gate and up to the first ledge.

The rock here is good and solid with a lot of interesting formations and holds, but be aware of some loose rocks. The more difficult parts of the routes are bolted, but bring your own nuts and "friends" for the easier but longer parts.
