Climbing in Suello

Life is short, do something with it!

Suello

The last two Saturdays in May, we have been outside Suello just south of Lecco. Here we have been climbing in an old dry waterfall together with Felix and Ian.

The rock in this old waterfall is limestone but the surface is still good enough for some interesting climbing. We had two beautiful days at this place and went through the basics of rock climbing. Felix had never tried rock climbing before, and Ian needed some rehearsal again after 5 - 6 years without climbing.

After a short but intensive instructions we where ready to drill on rappelling, belaying and knots. This is both mentally and physically tiring. You always have to keep your concentration, mistakes are not allowed in these situations.

Most of the climbing was done on routes at 5.8 to 5.9 in difficulty (US scale). The old dry waterfall was a nice place to start, but the field it self is quit small and we will move to a new place next time. There is a lot of good places for rock climbing near Lecco and Como, and we will probably try a couple of them during the summer months.
