Val dell'Oro

Excellent for toproping, but not a place for babies...

This climbing site consists of more than 30 routes from 5.9 to 5.13c, but most are in the 5.10's and 5.11's. They are well bolted, and it is possible to toprope on most of them.

The wall faces north and is usually in the shade. In addition, there are several trees close to the wall, so you are nearly always climbing away from the sun. The terrain at the foot of the cliff is steep, and not a good place for us to have Rebekka crawling around!

To reach this climbing site you go by train from Centrale via Lecco to Civate. The station in Civate is old and in decay, but located only 20-min. walk from the site. From the station you cross the highway on a bridge, and takes to the left in the first crossing. When you arrive at an Y-crossing, keep right and go to the end of this road. Here take right and then first to the left. Follow the signs towards Edo. As soon as the roads starts to get steep (25%) you may choose between several foot paths going off to the left. It is about 2 - 3 min. walk from the road to the cliff.
