Pisa

Unni & Rebekka's first visit in Pisa

But it was tilted...
But it was tilted...

Pisa 21.11.98

We left for Pisa early this Saturday morning. The direct train for Pisa leaves from Centrale at 07:10 and arrives in Pisa at 11:15 according to the schedule. As usual, the train was delayed, but only by 15 min. Gaetano Nicolosi met us at the station as planed. Gaetano's wife owns a fiat 500, 1968 model, which we planed to buy. Martin has for a long time wanted one of these unique small cars.

We were invited home to the Nicolosi family and had lunch together with them. They live in a nice apartment 5 - 6 min. walk from the tilted tower. After a wonderful lunch we had a look at the car together with Gaetano while Rebekka played with the rest of the family. We had a short test drive. The car was in good condition, but some corrosion is of course present on a 30-year-old car.

Later we had a look at the city with its tilted tower, churches and other monuments. We had beautiful weather all day but with chilly breeze from the sea. According to the Nicolosis +4 to +5 degrees is as cold as it ever gets in Pisa during winter.

The train we plan to use back to Milano only runs on Sundays, so we had to wait a couple of hours for the next. We spent this time in a small nice cafe. We arrived in Milano at 23:15 and were home 15 min. later. Rebekka enjoyed most of the trip, but became a little bit tired close to the end.
